We’re pleased to announce that two Judith Brust mixed media paintings have been chosen for the “After Rauschenberg” juried exhibition March 22 through April 29 on Sanibel Island, Florida. According to the nonprofit Big Arts Sanibel Island organization, the upcoming exhibition is based on “the amazing diversity and innovation of Robert Rauschenberg’s oeuvre.”
“Rauschenberg experimented with non-traditional methods and materials in his paintings, sculpture, Combines and more, yet he also displayed rigor and concern for formal painting, ” according to the Big Arts exhibition organizers.
Rauschenberg lived and worked on a 20-acre estate on Captiva Island for 40 years. The estate has been transformed into a creative center that welcomes artists from around the world.
The “After Rauschenberg” exhibition will include an artists’ reception and award ceremony on March 24 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. and a special art talk by artist and art historian Deborah Butler of Big Arts Sanibel on March 29 at 7 p.m.
